Practical Info about the Facilities
Access to the Building
Access to the building requires a guest card, which operates the metal gate at Øster Voldgade as well as all entrance doors. The guest card is valid for three months, after which you must actively apply for an extension. Requests for guest cards and extensions should be directed to the Pioneer Center’s Secretariat, either via email at aicentre@ku.dk or through the Pioneer Center’s Slack channel by contacting Björg Birkholm Magnúsdóttir.
The guest card provides 24/7 access to the building throughout the year. Outside regular office hours (weekdays from 08:00 – 16:00), you will need a PIN code, which consists of the last four digits of your guest card. To enter, scan the card at the card reader and then enter the last four digits of the card’s registration number.
Students, Faculty and Staff from the Department of Computer Science have access to the building by usage of KU-card.
Students, Faculty and Staff from the University of Copenhagen can request access to the building by contacting Björg at bjma@di.ku.dk or aicentre@ku.dk.

Catering for Meetings
The Pioneer Center has two kitchens equipped with coffee machines, thermoses, assorted tea, milk cartons, and sugar. The kitchens also have standard kitchenware and water pitchers. One kitchen has ice cubes in the freezer, and the other has an ice machine.
There is no canteen in the building, but a guest card grants access to the Geocenter canteen at Øster Voldgade 10, where you can buy buffet meals or sandwiches by weight.
If you wish to have food delivered or bring your own catering for meetings, you are welcome to do so.
Receptions and Events
The building’s facilities provide a beautiful setting for small events and receptions. Presentations and talks held in the Seminar Room can be streamed to the Classroom, accommodating groups of up to 50 participants.
Our large and bright main entrance, along with parts of the hallways, can be used for poster sessions and informal networking.
If you are planning a future event, please contact our Secretariat for further arrangements at aicentre@ku.dk.
Practical Information
If you choose to hold meetings, courses, or events at the Pioneer Center, please note that we do not provide service staff. Therefore, organizers are responsible for leaving the rooms and kitchens clean and tidy.
All large waste items (e.g., catering containers, pizza boxes, disposable tableware) should be placed in the containers located in the roundabout outside the building. Empty bottles and cans should be collected in bags and left in the kitchen. Dishwashers should be loaded and emptied.
Balcony and Telescope
Our guests are welcome to enjoy the balcony for fresh air, the beautiful view of Copenhagen, or social gatherings. The balcony door must always be closed and locked after use. If you are hosting a group, you can arrange a visit to the telescope with the Pioneer Center’s Secretariat.
Toilets
The building has six toilets and two bathing facilities. If you wish to use our bathing facilities, please remember to bring a towel. There are two toilets on the ground floor and two in the basement in both the east and west wings.
Hot Desks
At the Pioneer Centre for AI we offer the possibility for Students and Researchers to come work at the Centre. We have approximately 30 Hot Desks, equipped with screens and keyboards, with access to network and internet (eduroam and KU-guest). The spots are offered on a fist come, first served basis.
